Trimble has an opening for a Software Developer Engineer in Test (SDET) 2 position in Chennai, India. It  is an exciting time to join as we grow our AI offerings, bringing new AI features and technologies to our award winning construction collaboration products.
The AI SDET is responsible for improving the quality of software releases through automation processes and tools enhancements.  Working in an agile development environment, the AI SDET will develop and apply customized AI testing methodologies to show measurable improvements to the released software.  This includes responsibility for using AI to automate test cases and pipeline workflows to accelerate our testing and release cycles. In addition, the AI SDET will be responsible for testing new AI components embedded within our product set.
What You Will Do

  • Test new AI components embedded within Trimble's products.
  • Implement and maintain automation scripts and the test automation framework.
  • Develop ​Test planning, Test case documentation, and Test case design.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve defined software processes, incorporating AI.
  • Develop and adapt AI test tools to our QA processes, with a focus on increasing productivity.
  • Evangelize and train QA team members on new AI test tools, techniques, and best practices.
  • Evaluate and recommend new commercially available AI test tools.
  • Define test objectives and collaborate with the QA Team and other departments to achieve project goals.
  • Perform moderately complex functional, application, regression, and performance testing.
  • Apply evaluation concepts on LLM, computer vision, speech recognition, or other AI tools developed for Trimble products.
  • Detect and mitigate model biases and risks.
  • Work alongside the development team and product management teams to gather requirements and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Provide metrics and results from all testing efforts to support business decisions related to the quality of Trimble software.
  • Able to implement and follow an effective bug-tracking process.
  • Strategize and plan improvements in QA processes, tools, and best practices.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

  • 2 to 5 years of total experience in test case design of web applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related Computer or IT field.
  • Prior experience in test automation and scripting in Python( highky preferred), C#, or Java (Mandatory).
  • Experience in working with Playwright or Selenium (Must have)
  • Knowledge on n8n workflows.
  • Strong understanding of AI basic concepts (LLM, NLP, Machine Learning, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience with testing embedded AI products; AI test automation is a plus.
  • Ability to Test AI agents & Chatbots using multiple AI tools in a QA environment.
  • Experience with Functional, Integration, and Regression testing.
  • Experience with Test planning, Test case documentation, and Test case design.
  • Knowledge of cloud and virtualization testing environments and deployment testing.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, and Github.
  • Experience with QA-related tools for requirements management, test management, and defect tracking.
  • Knowledge of performance and security testing tools and techniques is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD Pipeline.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
