As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Banking (CIB) Technology - Markets Fixed Income Financing and Rates Technology team, you'll be an integral part of an agile team, designing and delivering trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You'll be responsible for implementing critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions, all in support of the firm's business objectives. This role is in a fast-paced environment, so you'll need to adapt quickly to evolving requirements and promote your tasks to completion while working in an agile development environment. You'll also need to demonstrate the ability to meet the demands of multiple trading desks and their support functions effectively.
Job responsibilities
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Handles the full development life cycle (requirements, development, testing, deployment, and support)
- Possess hands on development and support of a range of systems covering a range of different technologies
- Manage direct interactions with many different users in the Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney office ranging from Front office, to Middle office to technology
- Work closely with the global technology team to ensure that systems remain in-sync and global in nature
- Possess good soft skills to relationships with the various user groups and strong technical skills set due to the range of systems and technologies involved
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficient in coding using the following technology stack: Java, Junit, Maven, Hibernate, Spring Boot, Spring JPA, Spring Batch
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying language
- Ability to multi-task on systems written in different technologies and languages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate accurately, concisely, and effectively in a global organization
- Excellent relationship management skills, ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with sponsors and stakeholders
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking ability, Structured approach and ability to work in fast pacing environment
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
- Familiarity with one or more DBMS like Oracle, MySQL, or others
- Proficient in Python programming or any other object-oriented language
- Experience working on large global systems and being able to support local requirements
- Good understanding on pricing financial products, esp. fixed income repo and securities, and trading/risk management processes
- Knowledge of repo and interest rate derivatives pricing, risk, p&l, trading will be an advantage
