Design and execute performance tests, diagnose distributed-system bottlenecks, analyze server and browser performance, and recommend tuning improvements. Collaborate with developers, SREs, QA, and infrastructure teams throughout the SDLC. Contribute to code reviews, troubleshooting, automation, feature design, software quality, and security best practices.
Play a key role in developing, testing, and maintaining software components and applications aligned with business and technical requirements. Design and execute performance testing strategies using tools such as JMeter, Locust, or LoadRunner. Analyze system performance and identify bottlenecks through diagnostics including heap/thread dumps, TCP dumps, and Wireshark. Provide tuning recommendations and collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to optimize performance.
Monitor and optimize server-side and browser-side performance using tools like Lighthouse, Catchpoint, Chrome DevTools, and WebPageTest. Collaborate cross-functionally with developers, SREs, and QA to embed performance best practices throughout the SDLC. Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to architectural standards. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving software defects, including performance-related issues.
Continuously learn and apply best practices in software development, performance engineering, quality, and security. Contribute to the design of new features and improvements to existing applications with a performance-first mindset.
Requirements
Required Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a directly related field of study.
Good to have Certifications: JMeter, Azure, GCP, AI/ML, Splunk, New Relic
Minimum 2-5 years with the following technologies (experience may be gained concurrently):
- Performance & Observability: JMeter, Locust, LoadRunner, New Relic, Splunk, Wireshark, heap/thread dumps, TCP dumps, Lighthouse, Catchpoint
- Languages & Frameworks: Java, JavaScript, Shell, Groovy, PERL
- Infrastructure & Tools: Azure, AKS
- Diagnostics: Fiddler, Chrome DevTools, WebPageTest
- Proven expertise in performance testing, diagnostics, tuning of distributed systems.
- Strong scripting/automation (Shell, Python, PERL), infrastructure-as-code.
- Deep understanding of microservices, cloud-native, container orchestration.
- Skilled in APM tools (New Relic, Dynatrace), log analysis (Splunk), browser-side optimization.
- Excellent communication/leadership, cross-functional collaboration.
