Job Summary:

What you need to know about the role
As a Software Engineer in PayPal’s Public Cloud Engineering team, you will help to build a robust and scalable multi cloud platform to support PayPal to adopt public cloud services from AWS, GCP and Azure to accelerate migration from on premise environment. You will drive innovation in building public cloud environments leveraging your expertise and experience in building systems that further PayPal’s goal of bringing best-in-class customer experience to provide global payment acceptance solutions to all merchant/partner segments at PayPal

We are the Cloud Centre of Excellence team which enables engineers and developers within PayPal to make use of GCP, AWS and Azure cloud in secure reliable and scalable manner. Our team builds platform, self-service tools and automation using cutting edge cloud native technologies and solutions to reduce friction and enable product teams within PayPal to leverage GCP, AWS and Azure.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Oversee load balancers, Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) equipment, Content Delivery Network (CDN) platforms, and troubleshoot client/server issues.
• Handle proactive and reactive outages, work with vendors, and take ownership of network incidents, escalations, and root cause analysis.
• Lead backbone network design and architecture for on-premises and public cloud migration, and build hybrid connectivity solutions.
• Work with business unit leadership, product managers, and customers to develop project objectives, timelines, and feature requirements.
• Support network system availability, manage network capacity, and ensure compliance with Information Security standards.
• Deploy equipment, manage SSL certificate hosting and renewal, and build infrastructure for data centers and cloud environments.
• Implement and continually improve operational procedures, systems, and network engineering best practices.
• Offer on-call support, monitor infrastructure and hosted services, and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Manage and influence global teams, provide guidance and support, and mentor team members in areas of expertise.
• Communicate incident impacts, risks, and mitigation plans to executives, document incident information, and create network engineering documentation and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

In your day-to-day role you will be responsible for: 

• Develops efficient, elegant, clean, reusable code with no unnecessary complication or abstraction.
• Mentor other engineers and developers by providing technical and business-related guidance and resources;
• Deliver quality solutions on schedule.
• Create / Review well-articulated, detailed design documents. 
• Provides recognized technical and business leadership and can provide deep technical support across a range of functionality.
• Manages workload and other assignments efficiently while being able to resolve time-critical situations reliably and professionally.
• Participates in the development of tools, systems and processes aimed at improving product supportability or overall support productivity. 

What do you need to bring:

  

• 4-8 years of experience in developing large scale enterprise applications involving frontend and backend
• Experience in developing intuitive and aesthetically pleasing frontend using javascript/react.
• Experience in developing backend REST API based services using Golang.
• Experience in using cloud native services of AWS, GCP and Azure such as cloud functions, pubsub and cloud storage.
• Experience in infrastructure as code such as Terraform and Google Kubernetes Engine.
• Experience in writing unit and integration tests for frontend(javascript) and backend(Golang).
• Good to have knowledge of basic linux commands and shell scripting.
• Good to have knowledge in continuous delivery and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Harness, ArgoCD.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
• Believes in Agile development and are comfortable with SCRUM processes.
• AI experience a huge plus
