What You Will Be Doing

We are looking for a highly skilled Hardware Technical Writer with over 8 years of experience in developing high-quality hardware documentation. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, excellent communication skills, and hands-on experience with MadCap Flare. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering, product, and support teams to create comprehensive documentation for hardware products and systems.

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint
  • Develop, write, and maintain clear, accurate, and user-friendly hardware documentation such as:
    • Installation guides
    • Assembly and disassembly instructions
    • Technical specifications
    • Maintenance and service manuals
    • Regulatory and safety documentation
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineering teams to gather technical information.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, and schematics to create accurate documentation.
  • Use MadCap Flare to author, manage, and publish content in various formats (HTML5, PDF, etc.).
  • Drive documentation projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes and tools.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware documentation, preferably in the electronics, energy, automotive, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Proficiency in MadCap Flare for authoring and content management is a must.
  • Strong understanding of hardware design principles and product life cycles.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Experience working in Agile or cross-functional team environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with 3D modeling tools for extracting visuals is a plus.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and content management systems.
  • Exposure to localization workflows and working with translation vendors.
