At STM Journals, we collaborate with researchers to facilitate the publication of their impactful scientific discoveries, with a focus on rigorous peer review, ethics, and reproducibility. In support of our portfolio of 2800+ hybrid and open access scientific journals, you will actively contribute to advancing science, improving health outcomes, and fostering equitable participation in publishing.
 

About the Role
 

Within Elsevier's Science, Technology, and Medical Journal (STMJ) publishing division, we are looking for a Team Leader to strengthen the Research Integrity & Publishing Ethics Center of Expertise through leadership and team management, executing best practices, testing and implementing technological solutions for Ethics Pre-publication Screening workflow, and offering support on research integrity matters to STMJ colleagues.
 

Responsibilities
 

  • Managing up to ten team members in a global organization

  • Coaching the team to work with diverse stakeholders across Elsevier – including the Publishing teams, Legal team, Technology teams, and Operations team – to resolve ethics cases 

  • Recruiting, retaining and developing our talent: develop the team to an expert level

  • Ensuring the team adheres to deadlines, and that team members understand sensitivities and nuances to effectively screen the manuscript and validate editors - including communications with all parties, and operational actions.

  • Continuously reviewing workflows, processes, and policies and working to revise and improve them where necessary.

  • Working with the L&D team to contribute to the development and provision of education and training on research integrity and publishing ethics to Publishing teams and Editors.

  • Staying up to date on market trends and changes to best practices and acting as a thought leader for research integrity and publishing ethics within Elsevier

Requirements
 

  • Have Strong experience / 5+ years in scholarly research, scholarly publishing, and/or research integrity

  • Have Proven record in delivering results, prioritizing customer and business needs, and collaborating with different teams

  • Have Excellent ability to communicate findings and recommendations in a clear, effective, and engaging manner for diverse audiences

  • Have Proven experience managing a team, with a strong focus on coaching and developing talent

  • Be a graduate degree holder or higher
