Job Description

Purpose of the role

To conduct the accurate and timely valuation of financial instruments, and establishment of valuation methodologies, monitoring of market conditions, and provision of valuation insights to support financial reporting, risk management, and business decisions.  

Accountabilities

  • Development and maintenance of valuation methodologies for various financial instruments, and implementation of appropriate valuation models based on the characteristics of the financial instruments and market conditions.
  • Management of valuation process for the bank’s trading portfolio, including regular valuations of financial instruments and approval of valuations performed by colleagues.
  • Analysis of market data to assess valuation inputs, assumptions, and potential valuation risks.
  • Preparation and review of valuation reports, and support in preparing regulatory filings and financial statements.
  • Provision of valuation insights to traders, risk professions and senior colleagues, and identification of areas for improvement in valuation methodologies and processes.

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.

Join Barclays as a Vice President – Product Control Valuations - Credit, where role is a part of the PC projects team which works closely on identifying and delivering end to end solutions for manual problems for the Month end reporting. The role is pivotal in aligning with the overall change aspiration for the bank and look at the reporting architecture wholistically. This will require liaising with the line teams to understand their book or work identify gaps and help automate and transform processes for creating efficiencies and scalable solutions. To be successful in this role, you should have below skills:

  • Experience of around 8-12 years in valuation control function. 
  • Quantitative primary degree (or CA). 
  • Valuation control or product control experience in a financial services environment. 
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to distil complex issues into an easy to digest summary for senior management.  
  • Strong understanding of Financial Derivatives. 

 Some other highly valued skills may include below:

  • Advanced degree in similar subjects. Further professional qualification such as CQF, FRM, ACA, CIMA, CFA or MBA. 
  • Coding skills in Python/VBA or equivalent. 
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office products. 
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Reuters terminals.

 This role is based in our Chennai and Pune office.
