The Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group provides independent oversight of BlackRock’s fiduciary and enterprise risks.  RQA’s mission is to advance the firm’s risk management practices and deliver independent risk advice and constructive challenge to drive better business and investment outcomes. Fixed Income Risk Management

You will partner with the fixed income businesses to deliver independent risk oversight, risk advice, and provide quantitative analysis to assist with portfolio construction, performance measurement, product design and investor engagement.

Key Responsibilities

This role focuses on delivering rigorous, data-driven risk oversight and portfolio construction support by partnering closely with senior risk managers and portfolio managers. The emphasis is on leveraging quantitative techniques, particularly regression analysis and related statistical methods to assess exposures, identify risk drivers, and inform investment decision-making.

  • Conducting in-depth quantitative analysis using regression models and other statistical techniques to understand portfolio sensitivities, performance attribution, and risk factor exposures.
  • Partnering with senior risk managers to ensure that risks are fully understood, appropriately measured, and aligned with client objectives and investment constraints.
  • Regularly monitoring portfolio risks and producing analytical insights on market dynamics, macroeconomic impacts, and portfolio performance for portfolio management teams.
  • Supporting scenario analysis, stress testing, and portfolio construction by applying quantitative modelling to evaluate potential market movements and their impact on portfolios.
  • Translating complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for portfolio teams and senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in fixed income products, investments, and portfolio construction techniques with focus on credit instruments and analytics.
  • An ability to explain complex ideas in simple but impactful terms in order to influence portfolio construction decisions.
  • A passion for applying quantitative techniques to real-world problems including analyzing portfolio risk taking and understanding financial markets.
  • Extensive experience with factor models, scenario analysis, stress-testing, performance attribution, and other risk-related metrics and tools
  • A minimum of 3+years of relevant experience.
  • An advanced degree in mathematics, quantitative finance, computer science, economics, statistics, engineering or another quantitative field.
  • Proven coding skills, i.e. Python, R etc.
  • FRM and/or CFA designation is a plus.
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
