The Data Analytics and Monitoring Specialist is responsible for the continuous monitoring of IT systems, capacity planning, incident detection, and response to security threats. This role involves analyzing performance bottlenecks and resource constraints while ensuring compliance with change management processes. The specialist will also implement improvements in monitoring strategies and tools based on industry trends.
Key Responsibilities:

Performance Monitoring
- Continuously monitor the performance of IT systems, networks, servers, and applications.
- Identify and analyze performance bottlenecks, latency issues, and resource constraints through data analysis.

Capacity Planning
- Analyze historical data and trends to forecast future resource requirements such as storage, bandwidth, and computing power.
- Ensure resource planning aligns with business growth and demand.

Incident Detection and Response
- Set up and manage monitoring alerts and thresholds to detect and respond to security incidents, system failures, or abnormal behavior.
- Analyze log data, event streams, and security alerts to investigate and mitigate potential threats or breaches.

IT Security Analytics
- Analyze network traffic, access logs, and security events to detect and prevent cyber threats such as malware, intrusions, and data breaches.
- Implement security measures based on analytical findings to protect the IT environment.

Change Management
- Monitor changes to IT environments, configurations, and deployments to ensure compliance with change management processes.
- Minimize disruptions by ensuring smooth transitions during IT changes.

Continuous Improvement
- Continuously evaluate and improve monitoring strategies, tools, and processes based on feedback and lessons learned.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to enhance monitoring effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in IT performance monitoring, capacity planning, and incident response.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Experience with monitoring tools and software such as Nagios, Splunk, SolarWinds, or similar.
- Knowledge of IT security principles and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar.
- Experience in a DevOps or Agile environment.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation of monitoring tasks.
