We are seeking a Director of Product Engineering within Product Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of AI-driven products powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). This role sits at the intersection of product innovation, advanced AI systems, and enterprise-scale SaaS, driving the creation of human-centric solutions that redefine how businesses interact with customers through conversational intelligence.
As a senior engineering leader, you will own critical product domains, guide multiple engineering teams, and ensure alignment between product vision, technical execution,
and business outcomes. You will partner closely with Product Management, Design, Data Science, and Customer Success to build scalable, reliable, and differentiated AI platforms for a global customer base.
Role Overview
The Director of Product Engineering is responsible for translating product strategy into execution across multiple engineering teams. You will provide technical and organizational leadership for the development of Uniphore's core conversational AI, voice automation, and analytics platforms, ensuring timely delivery, high quality, and long-term platform scalability.
This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, people leadership, architectural depth, and operational excellence, with a strong focus on AI-first Product Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and inspire multiple product engineering teams delivering next-generation conversational AI platforms and enterprise SaaS products.
• Own the technical direction and architectural evolution of AI-driven systems leveraging LLMs, RAG pipelines, vector search, and real-time inference.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science leaders to define product roadmaps, translate customer needs into technical strategy, and ensure execution aligns with business priorities.
• Drive scalable, production-grade architectures supporting LLM fine-tuning, prompt orchestration, inference optimization, and retrieval workflows.
• Establish engineering best practices for reliability, performance, security, observability, and cost efficiency across AI and product platforms.
• Own end-to-end product delivery including planning, execution, release management, quality, and operational readiness.
• Build, hire, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders across globally distributed teams.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, experimentation, and continuous
improvement within product engineering.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to shape long-term product and technology strategy, including evaluation and adoption of emerging AI capabilities.
• Ensure strong alignment between engineering outcomes, customer experience, and measurable business impact.
Qualifications
• 12+ years of professional engineering experience with progressive leadership
responsibility.
• 5+ years of experience leading multi-team engineering organizations as a Director or equivalent.
• Demonstrated success delivering AI/ML-driven, LLM-based products and RAG systems in production at enterprise scale.
• Deep understanding of LLM architectures, fine-tuning approaches, retrieval pipelines (embeddings, vector databases), and performance/latency trade-offs.
• Strong experience integrating AI systems into enterprise SaaS or customer-facing platforms.
• Proven expertise in modern software architecture, distributed systems, and cloudnative platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience driving engineering excellence through CI/CD, observability, reliability, and operational best practices.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience building and scaling globally distributed, high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong product mindset with a passion for delivering human-centric, high-impact AI solutions.
Preferred / Nice to Have
• Experience leading platform-level AI initiatives across multiple product lines.
• Familiarity with AI cost optimization, capacity planning, and model lifecycle
management.
• Exposure to enterprise compliance, security, and governance considerations for AI systems.
• Background in conversational AI, speech analytics, voice automation, or contact-center platforms.
