About the role

Insurance Manager

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Insurance Manager to join AGL's Group Risk, Compliance & Insurance (GRCI) team. Reporting to the Group Insurance Manager, you'll support the delivery and ongoing management of AGL's enterprise-wide insurance program.

This is a unique opportunity to work across risk, projects and business operations, partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver practical insurance solutions for  one of Australia's leading energy companies as it navigates industry transformation.

In this role, you will be accountable for

  • Manage key elements of AGL's  insurance renewal program including stakeholder engagement, insurer submissions, declarations, roadshows, while supporting continuous improvement in renewal processes and outcomes.

  • Provide trusted insurance advice across the business, supporting new ventures, major projects, vendor engagements, contract reviews, and strategic corporate activities. Contribute to AGL's insurance strategy, helping deliver effective risk transfer solutions that align with business objectives, risk appetite, and evolving market conditions.

  • Partner with stakeholders to strengthen risk outcomes, identifying opportunities to improve risk management practices and optimise insurance program placement.

  • Build insurance capability and innovation, developing practical tools, guidance, training, and leveraging digital and AI-enabled solutions to improve consistency and self-service across the business.

  • Manage insurance claims and governance activities, coordinating claims management, maintaining accurate claims data, and supporting the resolution of complex or disputed claims with brokers, loss adjusters, and legal advisors.

Who We're Looking For

  • Extensive experience in corporate insurance, gained within a large, complex organisation or through insurance broking/underwriting roles managing corporate accounts.

  • Strong knowledge of insurance program design and management, with exposure to complex, multi-line insurance portfolios across sectors such as energy, utilities, infrastructure, or construction.

  • Sound understanding of the Australian insurance market and regulatory environment, including the ability to interpret policy wordings and apply them to commercial business outcomes.

  • Able to independently manage routine insurance matters, providing expert advice on project, contract, and operational insurance requirements with minimal supervision.

  • Commercially minded and business-focused, with the ability to balance risk management objectives with practical business and financial outcomes.

  • Highly organised and effective communicator, bringing strong stakeholder management skills, process discipline, and a proactive approach to leveraging digital and AI-enabled tools.

Why Join Us?

At AGL, you'll help protect and enable the business through strategic insurance and risk management while building valuable enterprise-wide relationships and influencing decisions that matter. If you're looking for a role that offers challenge, visibility, career growth, and the opportunity to make a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
