What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain COBOL applications
• Create and manage JCL (Job Control Language) scripts
• Handle VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) file operations
• Implement and manage version control processes
• Perform system debugging and performance optimization
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams

Knowledge and Attributes:

• 3+ years of professional Mainframe development experience
• Proficient in COBOL programming
• Expert knowledge of JCL
• Experience with VSAM file handling
• Version control system expertise (e.g., Git, IBM's version control tools)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Some expertise of data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills.
• Some expertise in SQL and no-SQL data stores
• Some proficiency with agile, lean practices and believes in test-driven development.
• Possess a can-do attitude and one that takes initiative.
• Ability to work well in a diverse team with different backgrounds and experience levels.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Some proficiency with CI/CD concepts and tools.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals preferred.
• Relevant agile certifications preferred.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 3 years working with IBM and/or ROSCOE mainframe systems
• Comprehensive understanding of mainframe architecture
• Ability to write efficient, maintainable COBOL code
• Experience with z/OS operating environment
• Familiarity with IMS databases
