The opportunity

We are Hitachi Energy, a leading player in the Power Quality industry, offering innovative solutions and products to various segments such as Industry, Utility, Renewables, Transport and Infrastructure in India and across the globe. Recognizing the rapid growth of power quality, we have made the strategic decision to establish a Power Quality Center of Excellence (PQCoE). This center will serve as an Engineering Competency Centre, providing cutting-edge and cost-effective solutions for India & Globe, along with comprehensive training facilities for both our internal team and external customers. By establishing the PQCoE, we aim not only to meet the current demand for power quality but also to anticipate future requirements. We are seeking a Power Quality Application Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role requires a strong background in electrical engineering and expertise in providing power quality solutions. As a Power Quality Application Engineer, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of sustainable grids by understanding and addressing various power quality issues. This includes offering suitable solutions such as active, passive, and hybrid options for industries, renewables, data centers, transportation, and utility sectors. Your expertise will be instrumental in conceptualizing & optimizing solutions, ensuring equipment’s sizing and meeting the customer requirements. As an integral member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the continuous growth of our organization.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Possess a strong knowledge of power quality problems and are able to provide effective solutions for a variety of sectors, including industrial, transportation, renewables, and utilities. This includes being well-versed in active, passive, and hybrid solutions.

  • Have hands-on experience in offering various power quality products is essential. You should be familiar with products such as APFC, TSC, AHF, SVG and BESS, and be able to offer them to meet the power quality challenges faced by customers.

  • Conduct sizing calculations for reactive power compensation and harmonic mitigation equipment (Harmonic filters) to offer effective solutions using available products, in order to meet power quality challenges.

  • Perform power quality studies at customer sites using power quality analyzers. You should also be able to guide service engineers in conducting PQ studies at customer sites. By analyzing the PQ data, you will be able to determine suitable solutions that address the specific requirements of each problem.

  • Analytical skill and problem-solving ability for various power quality problems faced by the customer.

  •   Interact with customers and various internal stakeholders including sales, tendering, R&D, Product Specialists.

  •   Collaborate effectively with remote teams to enhance communication and coordination in projects.

  •  Primary focus on tenders and projects in various segments such as Industrial, Renewables, Data Centre &Transportation sectors.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, specialization in Power Quality is preferred.

  •  8 to 10 years of working experience as a Power quality Engineer, Project Technical engineer or any similar position.

  • Thorough understanding of High, Medium, and Low voltage power quality products, such as

  • AHF, TSC, SVG, BESS and Capacitor banks.

  • Experience in conducting power quality studies and calculations (e.g. Reactive power flow, harmonics analysis, Design optimization, reliability & availability, and the ability to offer innovative power quality solutions)

  • Strong Analytical skills and attention to details.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency in English both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters.
