POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Project Manager II

Reports Directly to: Director of Info Sec, Compliance & Project Management Office

Position Overview:

The Transition Manager II oversees all aspects of the project using planning, monitoring and controlling processes. The Transition Manager II is responsible for coordination and completion of the project and performs a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing progress of the project. The Transition Manager will be responsible for more than one project at a time and will manage level 2 – level 4 size projects. This position will have responsibilities for new process projects, where a Process Migration Methodology (PMM) will be utilized. In new process transitions the Transition Manager will be the primary point of contact as well as overseeing all aspects of the project utilizing the established Project Management Office processes.

Primary Responsibilities

· Responsible for planning the project in order to accomplish its goals or produce the products required within constraints such as time, budget and scope

· Continuously monitors the progress in terms of the status of the plan and reports back to the organization via weekly or other progress reporting by organizing and managing status meetings

· In transition projects will oversee all transition related activities including monitoring of transition schedules, planning, and coordination of transition status meetings and preparation of transition reports

· In transition projects will have overall responsibility to assess transition issues and develop resolution to meet productivity, quality, and client satisfaction goals and objectives, within cost and budget constraints

· Anticipates deviations from a plan or schedule early and keep all participants informed

· Identifies logs, analyzes and manages potential and actual issues and risks

· Takes corrective action and reviews how issues and risks may impact scope, schedule, quality and cost

· Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities

· Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope

· Reviews deliverables prepared by team prior to communicating with client

· Effectively applies methodology and enforces project standard

· Minimizes exposure and risk on project

· Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately

· Articulates and negotiates consensus on a final vision of the product and/or the core project goals

· Capable of defining acceptance criteria or working with specialists to define acceptance criteria for project deliverables

· Works towards achieving stakeholder acceptance of deliverables

· Facilitates team meetings effectively

· Holds regular status meetings with project team

· Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors

· Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations

· Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion

· Identifies the need for resource, and share team management responsibilities in relation to the resource available to the project with the programming manager or technical lead

· Works directly with the team members or with their team leaders to estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus among individual team members on their appointed tasks

· May manage and coordinate third party contractors

· Exercise good judgment in whether tasks should be broken down into smaller detail or not

· Creates and uses Gantt charts, spreadsheets or other appropriate tools to manage people and tasks and keep up-to-date

· Provides team with direction and vision

· Responsible for bringing the project to a close, which may include creating an end of project report or evaluation document, holding deployment meetings and activities

· Effectively utilizes each team member to his/her fullest potential

· Motivates team to work together in the most efficient manner

· Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members

· Mitigates team conflict and communication problems

· Seeks and participates in development opportunities above and beyond training required

· Encourages more junior Innovators to take responsibility for their development within the Company

· Responsible for the project’s commitment to quality

· Understands the internal processes along with the solutions that they provide

· Reviews the status reports of team members and addresses issues as appropriate

· Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures

· Works to achieve PMP certification


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a project management office environment

· PMP certification is required

· Demonstrated experience managing people and multiple technical projects

· Demonstrated experience in direct customer interaction and extended location team management

· Minimum 2 years experience in transitioning processes between locations

· Minimum 2 years experience in the Business Process Outsourcing Industry

· Must be able to travel within the United States and internationally with short notice up to 30% of time
