Position Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager / Product Owner to join our Collector services zone within our Product Management organization in Chennai. The Product Owner’s work would be to scope and execute opportunities that enable this platform to meet the growth that athenahealth is set out to.
About the Team :
The Collector, Remittance & Posting zone is responsible for receiving payer responses and accurately recording them against submitted claims. This space requires deep understanding of payer behaviour, response patterns, and claim posting workflows. Our mission is to reduce customer cases, minimize manual touches, and improve customer experience and NPS by building intelligent, automated, and scalable posting solutions.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead discovery, delivery, and strategy for the posting domain. You will own a critical product area, partnering with engineering, design, data science, and cross-functional stakeholders to build solutions that drive automation, accuracy, and operational efficiency for our customers. This role is ideal for someone who is energized by ambiguity, skilled at navigating complex workflows, and capable of turning customer problems into clear product strategies and outcomes.
Product Discovery & Strategy
· Lead end-to-end discovery from scratch — defining the problem, forming hypotheses, validating assumptions, and shaping product direction.
· Understand payer behaviour and response patterns; identify opportunities to reduce manual interventions.
· Build and maintain the product roadmap for the posting space, aligned to business goals and customer needs.
· Act as the accountable owner for product strategy within the assigned product area.
· Provide inputs to portfolio planning, ensuring alignment with broader product and organizational objectives.
· Conduct market and competitive analysis to stay ahead of industry trends and define “what’s next” for the posting domain
Product Ownership & Execution
· Serve as Product Owner for scrum teams, driving clear priorities and removing obstacles to efficient delivery.
· Define epics and user stories, articulating business requirements including UX/CX/Support expectations.
· Drive ongoing backlog allocation and prioritization based on customer problems and business value.
· Collaborate with internal R\&D teams that integrate with or rely on patient directory and posting workflows.
· Use data to define KPIs and evaluate performance (e.g., match accuracy, duplicate reduction, workflow automation). Request analyses to support backlog decision-making and track success metrics.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
· Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization to streamline idea intake and improve product decision-making.
· Partner with Sales, Account Management, Product Marketing, and customer-facing teams to communicate product value and support product launches.
· Support rollout phases — Alpha, Beta, and General Availability — by synthesizing customer feedback, assessing impact, and enabling teams.
· Represent the customer for your product area, ensuring an end-to-end understanding of the customer journey and touchpoints
· Serve as the voice of product decisions, providing clarity and direction to internal teams.
· Mentor and share knowledge with other product managers, contributing to the growth and maturity of the product management org.
· Champion a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making.
Required Qualifications
· 10+ years of product management experience, preferably in complex workflow, healthcare, payments, or posting-related domains.
· Proven track record of leading discovery and shipping impactful products from scratch.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfort with large data sets, KPIs, and hypothesis testing.
· Experience working with engineering and cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
· Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
· Ability to drive clarity in ambiguous environments and make decisions with imperfect information
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience working with remittance posting, EOB/ERA, or payer response workflows.
· Background in automation, machine learning–based workflow improvements, or claim lifecycle management.
· Prior experience reducing manual workflows and driving digital transformation.
· Familiarity with customer experience metrics such as NPS.
