Position Summary: We’re looking for a Senior Associate, Product Management (Authorization Management) to contribute to the development of authorization management capabilities that help healthcare providers reduce manual effort and improve submission accuracy. Based in Chennai, this role partners with product, engineering, design, analytics, and operations teams to support the delivery of scalable prior authorization solutions. The position focuses on improving workflow efficiency, operational transparency, and automation performance across the authorization lifecycle.

About the Team: The Authorization Management team at athenahealth develops solutions that help healthcare providers secure insurance approvals before care is delivered. The team builds workflows that identify authorization requirements, automate request submissions, and track status updates throughout the process. By combining clinical, operational, and technical expertise, the team helps reduce delays, minimize denials, and improve provider efficiency. The product area plays an important role in simplifying complex payer requirements and reducing administrative burden for healthcare organizations.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of product strategy for authorization management solutions aligned with customer and business needs.

  • Define and maintain product requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria for development teams.

  • Collaborate with engineering, design, analytics, and operations teams to deliver scalable authorization automation features.

  • Analyze operational metrics, automation performance, and workflow data to identify improvement opportunities and support product decisions.

  • Partner with subject matter experts and operations stakeholders to ensure solutions align with healthcare standards and compliance requirements.

  • Support product delivery activities across discovery, development, testing, launch, and post-release improvements.

  • Evaluate AI-enabled tools and workflows to improve product analysis, documentation quality, and operational efficiency.

  • Communicate product priorities, tradeoffs, risks, and delivery updates effectively to cross-functional stakeholders.

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Support release planning, launch readiness activities, and deployment coordination for new product capabilities.

  • Monitor customer feedback and product performance after launch to identify enhancement opportunities.

  • Participate in workflow design discussions and evaluate implementation feasibility and operational impact.

  • Assist in defining product success metrics and tracking performance against established goals.

  • Support issue triage, defect management, and escalation handling for product-related concerns.

  • Contribute to go-to-market activities and internal enablement initiatives as needed.

  • Document key decisions, dependencies, and process updates to maintain cross-functional alignment.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Expected Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3–6 years of professional experience, including exposure to product management or cross-functional product delivery environments.

  • Experience defining product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for software development teams.

  • Experience collaborating with engineering, design, analytics, and operations stakeholders in a cross-functional environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience using operational metrics, customer feedback, or business data to support product decisions.

  • Familiarity with healthcare workflows such as authorization management, revenue cycle operations, or clinical administration is preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute effectively across different phases of the product lifecycle.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
