We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the development and enhancement of various modules within our group. In this role, you will focus on driving innovation and continuous improvement across our product offerings. Your technical expertise will help bring our technology to new markets and ensure we stay competitive. You will play an important role in helping us achieve our mission to make Toast a global leader in the restaurant technology space.
As a Senior-Software-Engineer on this team, you would get to build, innovate and upscale the next generation of our software solutions, with a Global first mindset, working closely with UX/PM/QA and customers to deliver the most value that fits our customers market and culture.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly resilient and scalable features of the mobile application.
- Collaborate with PM, UX & QA, and other engineers, on the development of new features & products.
- Partner with a wide array of teams across Toast.
- Drive high-quality team output and ensure that the team makes solid technical decisions.
- Collaborate with peer engineers, provide design feedback, and participate in code reviews.
- Champion best practices for SDLC & CICD life-cycles.
- Ensure quality by building automated testing for changes.
- Roll* features out to customers, ensuring successful delivery and operation, including monitoring for success and/or failures.
- Mentor & coach your peer engineers.
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- 4+ years of experience in iOS development, with a proven track record of building and scaling mobile applications.
- Strong proficiency in Swift and iOS frameworks (UIKit, SwiftUI, Core Data, Core Animation).
- Experience with architectural patterns like MVC and MVVM, especially in large-scale applications.
- Expertise in networking and API integration (RESTful APIs, Alamofire).
- Strong experience with offline storage solutions (Core Data, SQLite) and syncing data between devices and servers.
- A deep understanding of memory management, threading, and performance tuning in iOS applications.
- Proven experience building push notifications, in-app messaging, and cloud integration.
- Hands-on experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Fastlane).
- Version control experience using Git and a commitment to collaborative code reviews.
- Knowledge of Firebase, Splunk, and Heap for analytics and app performance monitoring.
- Unit testing, UI testing, and building automated test suites for quality assurance (XCTest).
- Experience in managing the global rollout of apps on the Apple App Store, including localization and internationalization.
- A passion for working on products that scale globally, with a strong customer-first mindset.
Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves)
- Experience with backend services and RESTful API development, particularly in a microservice architecture.
- GraphQL integration especially into mobile apps.
- Proficiency in SQL/NoSQL databases and understanding of when and how to use distributed data stores.
- Experience working with analytics tools like Datadog and Sentry to monitor app performance and troubleshoot production issues.

- React & ES6 for front-end SPAs with Tailwind, GraphQL, and Storybook.
- Data storage with DynamoDB and Postgres.
- Datadog, Sentry, and Splunk for monitoring and application metrics.
- FireHydrant for incident management and alerting.
