Job Description:

About the Role:
We're looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Platform Engineering team. Someone who is building toward equal fluency in production Go and cloud infrastructure, and who is excited to grow in both. You'll contribute to the standards, frameworks, and self-service capabilities that make engineering teams autonomous while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability and security.

Our Platform SRE team creates the systems and processes that scale engineering excellence: from incident response frameworks and technical standards to purpose-built tooling and automation that eliminates support dependencies. You won't just follow runbooks; you'll help build them. You'll write Go to automate operational work, contribute to internal CLIs and platform services, and take on increasing ownership of the systems that keep our multi-tenant, multi-cloud infrastructure running.

This is a high-growth role for someone who wants to develop deep platform engineering expertise and is serious about becoming a strong Go engineer alongside their infrastructure work.

Responsibilities:

  • Platform Tooling & Automation (25%) — Contribute to and maintain internal Go services, CLIs, and automation pipelines that reduce manual toil and eliminate support dependencies

  • Self-Service Enablement (25%) — Create documentation, runbooks, and knowledge bases that allow feature teams to operate independently; identify gaps in existing materials and close them

  • Incident Response (20%) — Participate in on-call rotations, execute and refine incident response procedures, contribute to postmortems, and help improve escalation playbooks

  • Standards & Architecture (20%) — Learn and apply technical standards and operational frameworks; contribute to RFC and PRD reviews as you develop architectural instincts

  • Service Ownership Coaching (10%) — Support feature teams in building operational maturity, scorecard compliance, and self-service capability

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years in DevOps/SRE or related cloud infrastructure engineering roles

  • Go proficiency: you've written Go in a professional or serious project context, understand the language well enough to own and debug production code, and are actively developing your skills

  • Kubernetes fundamentals: hands-on experience deploying, troubleshooting, and operating workloads in Kubernetes; comfortable with manifests, RBAC, networking basics, and cluster observability

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: solid AWS experience and working knowledge of Terraform; exposure to multi-cloud environments is a plus

  • Operational instincts: experience with incident response, on-call, and postmortem processes; you know what good looks like even if you're still building toward it

  • Software engineering fundamentals: you write code to solve operational problems, not just to script one-offs; you care about testability, readability, and maintainability

  • Communication & documentation: strong written communication; able to translate operational complexity into clear runbooks and team-facing guidance

  • Collaborative mindset: you ask good questions, seek feedback, and default toward enabling others over owning work yourself

Nice to Haves:

  • Exposure to Kubernetes internals — controllers, admission webhooks, or custom resources — even through study or side projects

  • Familiarity with GitOps patterns (ArgoCD, Flux) or policy tooling (OPA, Kyverno)

  • Experience with observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) and SLO/SLI design

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Associate or equivalent)

  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA or working toward it)

  • Contributions to open source infrastructure tooling

  • Experience with GCP, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and hybrid On-Prem/Cloud models

Why You'll Love This Role:

  • Grow in multiple dimensions at once: this role will make you a stronger infrastructure engineer and a stronger Go engineer simultaneously

  • High ownership, real scope: you'll contribute to platform services that affect dozens of teams and hundreds of services, not just support tickets

  • Mentorship from senior engineers: you'll work alongside team members who care about you and your growth while solving real, complex, and intellectually stimulating problems

  • Ship software that scales your expertise: the highest-leverage work here isn't a runbook; it's the automation that enforces it; you'll write Go that runs in production and multiplies your impact across the engineering organization

  • Drive our transformation from reactive support to strategic platform engineering partnership

  • Scale self-service capabilities that are already reducing support escalations and increasing team velocity

  • Tackle meaningful operational problems— from multi-tenant architecture to cross-service observability — with senior guidance and growing autonomy

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
