Edge Technology Engineering develops software for our CDN, a leading global distributed platform supporting live streaming, gaming, and e-commerce events. It ensures secure, seamless experiences for end-users, including during IPL(Indian Premier League). On typical days, the platform handles over 80 Tbps of traffic for clients across social media, streaming, banking, and web services.

Be part of the team enhancing, evaluating, and testing Akamai's software driving one of the world's largest distributed networks. This software combines multiple technologies, functioning as a web server, client, caching engine, and more. It ensures scalability, fault tolerance, HTTP HD streaming, secure traffic handling, bottleneck prevention, efficient routing, and extensive reporting for our operations center and customers.
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and developing software that is optimal, scalable, complete, and robust that powers some of the biggest online events like IPL
- Working with programming languages including C/C++ alongside Python or Perl to develop and maintain software solutions effectively.
- Investigating and analyzing the root causes of technical issues or performance bottlenecks to identify effective solutions.
- Developing and implementing strategies to assess potential initiatives related to performance optimization and COGS.
- Benchmarking diverse server metrics across releases and hardware to ensure exceptional quality and optimal performance.
- Maintain/enhance/develop tools and automation frameworks.
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have 0-2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science
- Have understanding of Automation Frameworks, Data Structures, Computer Networks, Operating System concepts
- Have proficiency in at least one programming language (C, C++) and any scripting language (Python, Perl, Shell, etc.)
- Have exposure to working in Unix/Linux
- Have exposure or interest in internet technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.
- Be passionate about solving large-scale distributed systems problems, pay meticulous attention to detail, and possess debugging/troubleshooting skills
