Key Responsibilities

R&D and New Product Development

  • Lead concept design, prototyping, validation, and industrialization of electrical systems.

  • Translate VOC insights and competitor benchmarking into design features and system enhancements.

  • Ensure toll-gate progression by meeting quality, compliance, and functional targets.

  • Solve challenges in fuzzy goal environments where requirements are not fully defined.

  • Support field trials and design validation for reliability and scalability.

  • Contribute to DFMEA, DFM, and DFR to improve robustness and reduce lifecycle costs.

  • Ensure electrical layouts and component selection are optimized for safety, maintainability, and performance in harsh wastewater environments.

Sustain Engineering

  • Support and guide Service and Quality teams in analyzing field issues by defining test procedures, conducting tests, and, when required, traveling to installations.

  • Perform technical evaluation of engineering change requests (ECRs) for standard components and assemblies.

  • Adapt standard electrical designs for product variants, ensuring scalability and compliance.

  • Provide technical support during product market launch and assist Sales/Service teams with customer-specific issues.

  • Drive cost optimization, lifecycle improvements, and standardization in existing product platforms.

Electrical System Design & Integration

  • Design LV/MV/HV systems including MCCs, control panels, switchgear, transformers, and power distribution.

  • Perform panel design, heat/load calculations, and ensure compliance with global standards.

  • Create electrical layouts, schematics, SLDs, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, and BOMs using E-Plan.

  • Apply knowledge of Machinery, Low Voltage, EMC, and RED Directives; support UL design compliance.

  • Promote standardization and modular design for scalable product platforms.

Testing & Compliance

  • Oversee EMC and environmental testing, including hands-on issue resolution at 3rd-party labs.

  • Support design verification, certification, and validation activities to meet global compliance and safety standards.

  • Set up and support panel/MCC/cable testing and validation against design requirements and safety standards.

Collaboration & Mentoring

  • Partner with global R&D, product management, and cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Participate in design reviews, toll-gate meetings, and innovation workshops.

  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a product development and Sustain mindset.

  • Travel globally for prototype testing, validation, Sustain, and NPD alignment.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 5–10 years’ experience in electrical design with R&D, NPD, and Sustain exposure.

  • Proficiency in E-Plan and job-specific design tools.

  • Expertise in control panel/MCC design (Rockwell, Siemens) including UL/CE component and enclosure selection.

  • Strong knowledge of power distribution, protection devices, switchgear, and cable sizing.

  • Experience in panel design, transformer/generator/busbar sizing, and load/heat calculations.

  • Knowledge of Machinery, Low Voltage, EMC, and RED Directives; familiarity with UL design preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with EMC/environmental testing and 3rd-party labs.

  • Ability to work with fuzzy goals, finding structured solutions.

  • Proven experience with NPD and Sustain processes, including toll-gates, ECR handling, VOC, and competitor benchmarking.

  • Strong English communication skills and ability to work in multicultural environments.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in product localization for regional compliance.

  • Knowledge of backup power systems (generators, ATS, UPS).

  • Understanding of earthing, lightning protection, and power quality management.

  • Familiarity with transformer integration for ozone systems and ballast design for UV systems.

  • Prior experience in EPC or OEM product development and Sustain engineering environments.

This role requires effective management of tasks and priorities along with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication in English is essential.
