About the role
At AGL, we’re transforming the way energy is traded and managed. We’re looking for a Trading Analyst to join our Trading Analytics team, delivering high‑quality analysis and innovative solutions that influence strategic decisions across our wholesale energy portfolio.
Based in Melbourne, you’ll work at the forefront of Australia’s energy markets, collaborating with experienced traders, analysts and strategists to drive initiatives that impact real‑time trading, portfolio value and optimisation.
What you’ll do:
Develop and enhance sophisticated trading, forecasting and hedging models.
Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to optimise trading strategies.
Analyse domestic and international energy and commodity markets in depth.
Present complex data clearly and compellingly to support decision‑making.
Support cross‑functional projects and build strong relationships across teams.
What you’ll bring:
Experience in energy trading, commodity markets or a similar analytical role.
Strong analytical capability and experience in portfolio valuation and trading systems.
Technical skills in Python, SQL, advanced Excel (including VBA), and dashboard tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Autonomous, commercially aware and intellectually curious.
Tertiary degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., mathematics, engineering, economics).
