Accountant, Purchase to Pay (P2P) for Global Financial Operations

We are looking for Accountant, Purchase to Pay (P2P) for Global Financial Operations to be based in Chennai, India. Global Financial Operations is a global operational finance business partner, providing efficient end-to-end financial processes to Valmet. We are owners of Valmet’s operative accounting and invest heavily in process harmonization and software automation. We are ambitious and passionate in developing our processes and team competencies. 

In this position, you will be responsible for executing and supporting end‑to‑end accounts payable processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant invoice handling, vendor management, and payment execution. This role works closely with internal departments, procurement teams, and external suppliers to maintain seamless P2P operations and uphold financial control standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices, credit notes, and payment requests in accordance with company policies and compliance requirements.
  • Perform invoice verification, 3‑way/2‑way matching, and resolve discrepancies with procurement and business teams.
  • Monitor and manage vendor accounts, ensuring accurate coding, timely posting, and prompt issue resolution.
  • Support the payment cycle by preparing payment proposals, verifying approvals, and ensuring timely execution of payments.
  • Reconcile accounts payable balances and assist with month‑end closing activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support internal/external audits.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve P2P processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.

To succeed this role, you will need:

           

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in Accounts Payable or Purchase to Pay processes (typically 2+ years preferred).
  • Strong understanding of invoice processing, GR/IR, vendor management, and payment cycles.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) is an advantage.
  • Good analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to process integrity.
