About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Public Cloud Manager to lead cloud operations with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and secondary expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, technical expertise across cloud and automation tools, and exceptional ownership of operational tickets, projects, and stakeholder engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Platform Management
- Manage and optimize public cloud services with emphasis on GCP (80%) and AWS (20%).
- Oversee provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, and cost optimization.
- Lead cloud infrastructure improvements for scalability, security, and reliability.
- Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and develop high-performing cloud operations teams.
- Assign responsibilities, track progress, and ensure timely closure of tasks/projects.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment.
- Service Operations & Ticket Management
- Monitor, escalate, and ensure closure of incidents, service requests, and change approvals through ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.
- Manage end-to-end ticket lifecycle including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
- Automation & Scripting
- Utilize Linux, Salt, Ansible, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate operational tasks.
- Improve workflows and reduce manual intervention.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Take ownership of projects and tickets from initiation to closure, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver on commitments.
- Communicate effectively with technical teams, vendors, and management.
- Continuous Improvement & Self-Driven Execution
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement best practices.
- Drive initiatives proactively without excessive supervision.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise:
- GCP expert-level proficiency (80%).
- AWS working-level proficiency (20%).
- Strong knowledge of Linux server administration.
- Experience with automation tools: Salt, Ansible.
- Skilled in scripting (Bash, Python).
- Operational Experience:
- ITSM tools (ServiceNow), change management processes.
- Leadership:
- Proven track record in team management and mentoring.
- Other:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and decision-making under pressure.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect or Cloud Engineer.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional.
- Experience in multi-cloud operations and hybrid environments.
